Don't forget....

The secret to the best hair and make-up is a professional make-up artist and hair stylist. Organise a trial beforehand and allocate plenty of time on the day

It is important that the bride is ready early to provide adequate time for the bridal portrait. The bride’s hair and make-up will generally take the longest and should not be left until last. It can also be helpful for the bride to have separate transport to return from the hair stylist should the other bridesmaids take longer than expected

Pack the items you will need well before the day. The best idea is to give a checklist to a helpful friend or relative to arrange. Do this early, as in the last week you will be far too busy

Create an 'emergency kit' of things that you will need. This should include essentials such as lipstick, compact, safety pins, hair clips, tissues, wipes and possibly a clothes brush

Use a discreetly placed safety pin to securely fasten precious momentos and heirloom handkerchiefs to garters and ring pillows

A change of undergarments for the bride and bridesmaids, and a spare shirt for the groom and his party may be helpful for you to feel comfortable and look fresh and crisp at the reception.

The groom and groomsmen should remember to bring $$$’s for purchases throughout the day ($100 minimum, but possibly more for unexpected extras)

Ensure that car bookings allow enough time between the ceremony and the reception, as organising to extend the time will be costly and interrupt proceedings

In the winter months those essential woollen coats are imperative to keep you warm and smiling. This is particularly important for the girls, whose lightweight dresses and wraps offer little resistance against the cold

In summer remember to include cool drinks and sunscreen. The bride and bridesmaids should incorporate a sunscreen in their make-up

Water is essential in all weather, but particularly in summer when you should provide a full litre of water for each person in your group

If rain is on the cards then don't forget the umbrellas. Organise a collection in classic black, a flotilla of cheerful colours or another theme to match the style of the day

Don't forget to note your album design day in your organiser or diary!
